FLOSS Weekly

In podcast, videocast on October 1, 2011 at 7:25 am

FLOSS Weekly is a netcast on the TWiT Network. The current primary host is Randal Schwartz who works with a number of different co-hosts. The main focus is covering open source projects thru interviews with people associated with the project – programmers, coordinators, leaders, etc… I love this podcast because it often gives me a chance to hear about something completely new to me – the projects come from a wide variety of sources/languages/technologies and I am often listening to someone speak who is from a community I know little or nothing about – what a great opportunity to learn!

Security Now, Steve Gibson and Leo Laporte

In podcast, videocast on September 10, 2011 at 7:30 am

Security Now is a weekly netcast covering computer security on the TWiT network hosted by Steve Gibson and Leo Laporte. The regular security updates at the start of the show are a great source of information (a fantastic weekly scare to keep you thinking about security…) – especially if your primary day-to-day focus is not security. A range of interesting topics are covered and Steve Gibson does a great job of keeping the material accessible to non-experts.

It is often a bit of a stretch for me to follow and understand the material featured on Software Engineering Radio. For a developer like me this podcast is a great way to be exposed to new material and ideas – inspirational.

Competitor Radio, Bob Babbitt and Paul Huddle

I love a good techie podcast, but sometimes I get overloaded listening to conversation about yet another language, methodology, project, gadget, etc. and the Competitor Radio podcast is a great diversion!

The focus of the show is on endurance athletes and events (with a bit of Ironman/Triathlon emphasis) – I rarely know the person they are interviewing, but the interviews tend to be short and energetic, with interesting details and inspirational stories.
